What TowXpress is

TowXpress takes requests for roadside help in the Greater Toronto Area (battery boosts, lockouts, tire changes and fuel delivery) and passes them to independent operators who hold Ontario tow operator certificates. TowXpress does not own trucks, does not do the work itself, and does not provide or arrange towing. The operator who takes your job is an independent business that does the work and is responsible for it.

TowXpress does not send help onto the restricted towing zones on the GTA’s 400-series highways and the QEW, where only the province’s contracted company may help. Call 511 there, or 911 in an emergency.

Requests

  • Sending a request is free.
  • We do our best to get every request to an operator quickly, but we cannot promise that one is available, or when they will arrive.
  • If nobody takes your job, we will tell you, so you can call someone else.
  • Please only send real requests. Fake requests waste operators' time and may be reported.

Prices and payment

The operator who takes your job sets the price for the work and tells you before they start. You pay the operator for the work. If you do not agree to a price, you are free to say no. Ontario gives you rights on rates, consent and invoices, summarised on our "Your towing rights" page.

Emergencies

TowXpress is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, anyone is hurt or traffic is at risk, call 911 first.

If something goes wrong

Tell us by replying to our text, calling or using the contact page. We will follow up with the operator. Claims about the work itself, damage or charges are between you and the operator, and the operator's insurance; we will help you reach them. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Ontario consumer law.

For tow operators

  • You are an independent business, not an employee or agent of TowXpress.
  • You must hold a valid Ontario tow operator certificate and the insurance the law requires, and tell us right away if either changes.
  • You follow the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act and its rules, including your filed rates, consent and invoices, for any tow you agree with a customer yourself.
  • You are never required to accept a job. Once you accept, you go, or you give the job back right away using the link.
  • You keep customers' details private and use them only for the job you took.
  • Joining is free, and jobs are free for your first 60 days after we approve you. After that you pay on the plan you chose: $15 for each roadside job you accept, or $79 a month. You can switch plans or leave at any time. We give you 30 days’ written notice before any price changes.
  • A job is counted when you accept it. It is not counted if you give it back, if the customer cancels, or if it turns into a tow. TowXpress never takes a fee, a share or anything else for a tow (TSSEA s. 29). A tow is between you and the customer, under your own certificate, consent form and published rates.
  • Each month after the free period we send you a summary of the jobs you accepted and what you owe. Pay within 15 days. We may pause job texts while a bill is unpaid.
  • We may pause or remove an operator after complaints, an expired certificate or insurance, or misuse of the service.
