Towing after an accident
After a collision, you choose where your car goes. Send one request and a certified operator near you can tow it to your shop, your home or where your insurer asks.
Unsafe, or anyone hurt? Call 911. On a 400-series highway or the QEW? Call 511.
After a collision
- After a collision, once everyone is safe
- The car isn't safe to drive
- Your insurer has asked you to move it

From your request to back on the road
Everyone safe first
Call 911 if anyone is hurt or traffic is in danger.
Send the request

An operator takes it
Their ETA and price come to you by text.

It helps the operator to know
- Where it should go: a shop, home or your insurer's yard
- Your insurer's name: they may have a preferred shop
- Police or collision-report details, if you have them

Before you call
Reporting a collision
By law, a collision must be reported to police when anyone is injured or the damage is more than $5,000.
You decide where it goes
Under Ontario law the operator needs your consent, which shows where your car is going, and it must go by the most direct route. See your rights before you sign anything.
On 400-series highways
On the GTA's 400-series highways and the QEW only the province's contracted company may tow. Call 511, or 911 if you are in danger.
Do I have to use the tow truck that shows up?
Not unless police direct you to, or you are in a highway tow zone. You can ask for the certificate and the rate schedule first, and you choose where the car goes.
Can it go straight to my body shop?
Yes. Put the shop's address in the request.
Need something else?
Need help right now?
Call, or send a request. It takes about a minute.
