Stuck in snow, mud or a ditch?
Winch-out

Stuck in snow, mud or a ditch?

If your car slid off the road or is buried in snow or mud, a tow truck with a winch can pull it out, often without towing it anywhere.

Unsafe, or anyone hurt? Call 911. On a 400-series highway or the QEW? Call 511.

Have this ready

It helps the operator to know

  • Exactly where: on rural roads a landmark or your GPS location helps a lot
  • How far off the road it is, and at what angle
  • Whether anyone is hurt, and whether the car is damaged

Good to know

Before you call

After a crash

If you left the road in a collision, or anyone is hurt, call 911 first.

How it is priced

A winch-out depends on how hard it is: distance, angle and time. Ask for the price before work starts.

What does a lockout cost?

$119 plus HST, one price, booked and paid online. It's held until the job is done.

Will it damage my car?

Operators use straps and rated tow points. Tell them about anything low or fragile underneath.

Can you pull me out of my own driveway?

Yes. Driveways and private lots are fine.
